Exploring the Monuments

Date: July 10, 2009 Destination: Unknown

The monuments in Washington DC are very cool and have alot of interesting history.

The first monument is the White House. The White House is where the president lives. I Bet you are wondering why the White House is white. When the White House was built, we were a young nation and did not have much money, so the cheapest paint to buy was... White!!!

The second monument is The Washington Monument. The Washington Monument is made of two types of rock because the quarries they got the rock from were in Georgia, And during the Civil War the didn't have access to the Quarry, so they had to get the rocks from a new quarry.

There are many other monuments that include:

  • The WWII Momorial
  • The Vietnam War Momorial
  • The Jefferson Momorial
  • The Lincoln Momorial
  • The Korean war Momorial

And much more but you will have to go to DC to find out the rest!!!
