National Zoo

Date: July 9, 2009 Destination: Woodly Park National Zoo

OK... First of all if you are scared of escalators, like my friend Ben, Don't go to the Zoo via Woodly Park Zoo Metro Station.

Woodly Park National Zoo is a wonderful place with many cool animals that include

Tai-Shan the Panda

Tian Tian (Father)

Mei Xiang (Mother, with young Tai-Shan)

They also have many other animals like:

Red Pandas

Golden Lion Tamarins

And much more!!!

United States Capitol Building

Date: July 8, 2009 Destination: Capitol Building


The United States Capitol Building is a very interesting landmark. Many important events happen at the capitol building like the presidential inauguration, the presidential funerals, the state of the union address and much more. Inside the capitol their are many interesting rooms with great histories. The rotunda, the room inside the dome of the capitol there is a lot of beautiful artwork. In The basement there is an empty tomb because George Washington was originally going to be buried there instead of at Mount Vernon.

Old Town

Date: June 6, 2009 Destination: Old Town Alexandria

Old town is very interesting. Old town is a very historic town. There are many cool sites. They include:

• The torpedo factory

The torpedo factory is an art factory.

• Library

An old Library on Queens street and Columbus street.

• Christ Church

A historic church.

If you are looking for some good food in old town go to five guys.

There are also many activities to do like:

• Old town walking tours
• Potomac river tours
• and much more

Arlington Cemetery

Date: June 7, 2009 Destination: Duh!!!!!

Arlington Cemetery is the burial place of many soldiers who died in battle. It was established right after the civil war. It is the burial place of JFK and his family. When we got off the metro a klutz in our class called Vanessa dropped the camera onto the metro tracks. ( LOL!!!) We had to stop the in tire blue line to get the camera out. :-)

Also at Arlington Cemetery their is a tomb for soldiers that died in battle who we do not know who they were. It is called the tomb of the unknown solider.
